Volkswagen’s website states that a car repair facility is required to provide roadside assistance.
It’s a common misconception that it’s only for owners of diesel cars, however.
The company also notes that the company does not charge for roadside assistance in the United States, and it doesn’t accept payments from customers.
It is important to note that VW does offer a credit to the owner for their service and repairs, which can be up to $15,000.
The company has no way of knowing how many of its owners have reported a fraudster to authorities, or how many have taken the bait.
